The Montessori Brown Stair (also called the Broad Stair) is a sensorial material made up of ten wooden prisms, all the same length but increasing in thickness. Children learn to grade by size, build visual and tactile discrimination of width, develop language (thick/thin), prepare for math concepts like volume, and refine coordination and concentration.
