Here're some suggested ways to play:
1. Times Table Builder
Objective: Demonstrate multiplication visually using the wooden cylinders.
How to Play:
• Flip all the cylinders to the blank side (no numbers).
• A player picks a times table card (e.g. 5 × 6).
• Use the blank cylinders to arrange 6 rows of 5 to show the total (30).
• Great for visual learners to understand multiplication as repeated addition!
2. Build Your Own Multiplication Grid
Objective: Complete a full multiplication grid using the wooden cylinders.
How to Play:
• Fill in the board with all the correct answers.
• Tip: the wooden cylinders are grouped by colour (each colour group represents the products of a specific times table (e.g., all multiples of 2 are one colour, all multiples of 3 another, etc.).
• Beginners can start with one times table at a time (e.g., all the 2s, then all the 3s) before moving to a full grid.
3. Match & Solve
Objective: Match the correct answer piece to each times table equation.
How to Play:
• Pick a times table card.
• Find the wooden cylinder matching the answer and place it on the board.
• Continue until all equations are solved.
• For an extra challenge, set a timer and see how fast you can complete the board!
4. Dice Challenge
Objective: Roll both dice and solve the multiplication problem.
How to Play:
• Roll the two 12-sided dice.
• Multiply the two numbers together.
• Find the wooden cylinder with the correct answer.
• Place it on the board.
• Take turns and keep score—1 point for each correct answer!
5. Flashcard Race
Objective: Be the fastest to find the correct answer.
How to Play:
• Place all number pieces in a pile.
• A player picks a times table card and reads it aloud.
• All players race to find the correct wooden cylinder and place it on the board.
• The first to get 5 correct answers wins!
6. Memory Match
Objective: Test memory skills by matching equations to answers.
How to Play:
• Spread out the times table cards and number cylinders face down.
• Flip over one card and one number piece per turn.
• If they match, keep them! If not, flip them back over.
• The player with the most matches at the end wins.
